Huawei P20 Lite Review with Pros and cons

Here we have Huawei P20 Lite review with Pros and Cons a phone with Kirin 659 processor at a price of Rs 20,000 but it does come with the branding of Huawei P20 lineup.

Huawei’s P series is their flagship lineup but they came up with Lite series in the budget segment to give the same feel in a budget. We got a chance to spend time with Huawei’s P20 Lite launched in the first quarter of 2018 but it is still great to consider buying for those who love Huawei and especially their P lineup but have a limited budget only. This is the premium looking smartphone priced at Rs 19,999 in India and has very tough competition in the market but it is the premium device that cannot be ignored. Here is the Huawei P20 Lite review but first specs.

Let us come to the Huawei P20 Lite Review with Pros and Cons

Huawei P20 Lite Review

huawei p20 lite review with pros and cons

The Huawei P20 Lite has a nice build. It is sort of metallic build and it looks good and feels premium. You cannot distinguish whether it is plastic or metal. The phone has dual rear cameras vertically placed followed by an LED flash and a fingerprint sensor in the rear. The pink color design looks great and there are few more color options. This looks great and in the front, we have the notched design with the front camera. This is followed by a chin in the bottom and minimal bezels in the sides. No complaints about the design it is beautiful and as the name suggests light.

On the top, it has a secondary noise cancellation microphone.  with volume rockers, power on/off button in the sides. There are a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type C connectivity with the fast charging support but there is no fast charger. We get the regular  5V/2A Huawei charger with the box. However, you can use a fast charger with it.

The Huawei P20 Lite has a 5.84-inches full HD+ Display. This is a FullView Display with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and the aspect ratio of 19:9. The colors are vibrant and it is perfectly fine to call it one of the best displays among the phones available right now.

huawei p20 lite review with pros and cons

We have the Huawei P20 Lite with the Dual Camera set up in the back. There is a 16Megapixel sensor in the rear with a 2MP secondary depth sensor. The camera performance is so good that you cannot imagine. It has PDAF and LED flash. The 2MP depth sensor is just for the bokeh effect this is not any black and white or monochrome sensor. In the daylight photos are good, there is more detail captured with dynamic range. Colors are a pretty accurate and good contrast. It does not capture a lot of noise but it can be left. The low light performance is also good but there is a bit of noise felt. You cannot get the same level of night mode as the premium Huawei P20. The cameras disappointed us a bit as we expected the premium Huawei P20.

Camera Performance

The aperture mode works fine but it isn’t that great as of flagship phones. The edge detection is not that great. You can see edges getting blurred in most of the images that are because of the software based edge detection. But, the selfie camera works fine and stands above the competition from most of the brands. It captures all the details and colors in the images. Portrait mode works fine in the selfie camera too and edges are detected properly too. And, yeah! this is all from a 16 MegaPixel Selfie shooter.

If we talk about the video, it can record only 1080p videos at 30fps. It does not have stabilization even. The camera is capable of capturing details and colors and there is minimum noise in the video. But this all depends on the lighting conditions.

The phone has HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor running inside coupled with 4GB of Ram and 64GB of internal storage. This is the same age-old Soc of Huawei like the Snapdragon 625 of Qualcomm. It gives you the performance that you need for day to day usage. But you can imagine the sort performance that you can get from a budget segment processor. Now, you can get Huawei Nova 3i, Honor Play, Poco F1 for the similar not even lower pricing. So, it is not up to the mark in terms of performance.

The phone has 3000mah battery to power the whole set up. And we can say this is kind of lower battery capacity but the optimization is great. We have felt this from almost every Huawei/Honor phone, they just do the best job in battery optimization. 2016’s flagship phone the OnePlus 3T has the same battery but the optimization on Huawei P20 Lite is way better than the OnePlus. It lasts for the whole day but it takes a lot of time to charge it. With the regular charger that we get with the box, the charging time is 2.5 hours for the 3000 mah battery.

Now, after the Huawei P20 Lite review, if you ask us whether you should buy or not the Huawei P20 Lite. We won’t recommend at all, Its all your choice whether you should buy it or not. There are thousand times better phones available than the Huawei P20 Lite. But if you have decided to buy this phone then it’s a great phone to buy. You have the Huawei premium design, quick updates, and the P20 branding.

You can go any of these phones like the Poco F1, Honor Play, Huawei Nova 3, Realme 2 Pro, Realme U1, Honor 8X, Mi A2, Nokia 7 Plus etc.

The Huawei P20 Lite review shows us the worth of phone now in 2019 and it stands out to be a phone that you may consider buying if you like the Huawei P20 lineup otherwise there is no chance of it against such a competitive market of smartphones.
